The man who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd. The man who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever been.

Finding Solitude In Inigok

"See how nature - trees, flowers, grass - grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... we need silence to be able to touch souls."
-Mother Teresa of Calcutta, 1910-1007

I went for a short walk today.

Sometimes I have to step away from camp. I enjoy hearing peoples conversations and laughter. But sometimes I have to wander and ponder. It's good for my soul.

Today I stood on the tundra, looking at the lake, I was reminded of the silence of this place. I stood feeling the cold air on my face. I thought about how much I enjoy the wind in my hair. And most of all, I enjoyed hearing nothing more than the crisp breeze blowing in my ears. I came here to think, and I know that I am content. It makes my soul sigh.

I realized today that the tundra is changing color, it must be Fall.

After enjoying my moment of quiet solitude, I meandered back up the hill, and back to camp. Smiling at the familiar faces, I ate a Hersheys bar, because chocolate is good for my soul too.
