Hiking: Apache Wash Trailhead, Phoenix Sonoran Preserve

Hiking with Zane today.
We began our hike on Sidewinder trail.
Up we go, Apache Vista trail.
Partway up Apache Vista trail.
Frank taking in the views.
Me and Zane.
I spy: horses!
There were about a half dozen horseback riders.
Very good sights and smells for Zane.
Goodbye horses.
Christmas cholla.
Cholla.
Termites.
A break for a snack, just off the trail in a wash, the best place to find a seat and shade.  Zane watching a bicyclist go by.
Relaxing at break time.  Zane shared my apple with me.
A much happier hiker without me holding his leash.
About this time Frank let me know we're moving further away from the Jeep and adding a couple more miles to our hike.  What?  Noooo...
Because: shortcut!
Our shortcut took us to Ocotillo trail.
O is for Ocotillo (trail).
6.3 miles, 72 degrees, a lovely hike.
Sidewinder trail, Apache Vista trail, and a shortcut to Ocotillo trail.
Elevation gain: 287'.  (Low 1,576', High 1,863')
YTD: 100.5 miles.
